Nice blog Jan, it is pretty simple....gotta find a way to win today. Can't go back to New York down 0-2. Boston is no Washington

Congratulations again Jan to you and your family on this special event day!

I agree with all your key points for us to win, but will also add that we must stay out of the penalty box when becoming more physical in trying to dictate the play; with a desperation type forechecking tempo style needed, like we used to come back against Washington. We must also work the center area in their zone with constant movement besides putting traffic in front of the net to set up screened shots and possible rebounds, whether or not we are on the powerplay.
Line and defensive combination changes are normal for Torts, but he must be careful in remembering that Boston has a legitimate center that can set up offense on each one of their 4 lines.
That game 1 loss hurt us more because of the Bruins using 3 rookie defensemen, with one of whom (Krug) even scoring the tying goal in the 3rd. We need these early series game wins before Ference, Seidenberg, & yes, Redden, all return to action for them.

We must play to win rather than be 100% concerned with making mistakes. We saw in game 1 that if Hank is not playing super spectacularly perfect, we will not win without getting scoring help for him, as he said himself frustratingly after that game, that he "can't provide the goal scoring here".
That's why he has only a 3W & 11L lifetime playoffs OT record with us (despite app'rx. an OT 2.00 GAA) for being the world's best goalie; as opposed to Anti Niemmi, who now after Saturday's Sharks win, has an 11 & 2 lifetime OT record.
LETS GO RANGERS!!!!

Hello Nightbirds. Changes off the ice? I suppose that means behind the bench unless Sather got permission to light that cigar he chews on. Maybe they banned Limo service, elevators and desserts for our huffers, puffers, leg and brain cramp guys. Could it be pre-game bowling? LOL, Torts is such tease! Do members of the Clergy still perform exorcism's or did we hire a hypnotist? Just score more than they do and win, boys. Forget the rest!

Nice blog Jan, congratulations to your daughter! I expect a better effort here in game 2, think the Rangers will be ready to go and be a little smarter out there. Get us a nice win and take home ice advantage, sounds good to me! Lets go Rangers!

no matter the case, I want to see a tough and grueling 7 game series.

“I think he’s too quick,” Tortorella said of Hagelin, who was on for two power play goals during the regular-season in which he a total of 49:37 of ice on the unit. “I think he’s a jitterbug, and he screws it up.

Hags should have used a Torts type response when asked about this and said "Torts should just shut his mouth", for a coach who doesn't want to ever be be asked about singling out a player he sure had no problem doing so and regarding an aspect of their game where almost everyone sucks, forget moving around, that's not important.

I dont think Torts tries to be negative but he doesnt know any other way to say things.

I think where he is going with this is that Hagelin is sometimes flying down the ice so fast, that he's getting ahead of the play many times. This might cause a couple offsides, a couple poorly timed or made passes because hes put himself in a bad position, or he just completely takes himself out of the play causing a one and done opportunity.

At this point, I dont know what Hagelin's potential is. I love his speed and quickness, but I dont know how far he can go. I always had high hopes for him, but those hopes have transferred over to MZA.

I cant help but keep wondering what it would be like to acquire Yandle for next year. Clowe might not get resigned with us because of the concussion, but if he does, hes not getting what he got... hes gonna take a pay cut.

Why he's greatest coach since Toe Blake. Now if Hags has good game it will be because of this quote. Nothing to do with his talent. And for the Torts kool aid drinkers isn't hags not doing what the coach wants on the pp a coachable moment.

It actully tastes refreshing you should give it a try

Edit :
Heres a sip of it:

Hagelins only coach in the NHL is torts and his coaching has developed a 6th round player into a top 6 forward. Oh the horror. He so awful

"Drinking the Kool-Aid" is a metaphor commonly used in the United States that refers to a person or group holding an unquestioned belief, argument, or philosophy without critical examination. The phrase typically carries a negative connotation when applied to an individual or group.

The one thing that grinds my gears with Tort's is that he refuses to teach or coach "skill". By that, I mean passing, stick handling, skating with the puck... because that is a MAJOR weakness of this squad. They are just not on the same page and dont have a feel for the puck out there. This team has so many talented guys, theres no reason for us to get stonewalled as much as we do in the neutral zone... especially on the powerplay.

And he has coached Kreider a first round player into fourth line/ahl player.
